[found a memory at 12:11 am on 4/19/2004] A Roy/Ed story has appeared on fm_alchemist, with the following line in the summary: Yaoi galore, because it makes little Het-Fans cry. And it's cross-posted to fma_yaoi, which was created out of spite for the yaoi fans. clearly, the poster is totally new to the community and did not bother going through the backlog (although who would, with all the spam? >__> ), and posted this story. can you feel the wank coming? ooooh ... I can feel it. [found a memory at 10:55 am on 3/24/2004] i really shouldn't look at yaoi_rants. suffice to say, I was wandering the 'net and, i ran into this line: Granted, Roy is not a total psycho asshole on the same scale as Akio, but their basic personalities are still the same. now, last night i got my ass totally kicked over my roy characterization, so i know better now. but this ... this offends even my original characterization of roy. charming bastard? yes, he projects that. but it offends me that he would be compared to akio, 'total psycho asshole'. worse yet, in my judgement, is the characterization of ed as someone who could not possibly hope to survive an encounter with this total psycho asshole. obviously, he would be forced to turn into cute weepy uke. newsflash: ed barely puts up with the colonel as is - he treats him with civilian casual-ness, is totally willing to beat his face in (if he thinks there won't be consequences), and happily snarks at roy every chance he gets. could ed be manipulated into a relationship? possibly. would roy do that? i doubt it, mostly because although he is easily seen as a charming bastard (that fooled me a good long while), he is also pretty humanitarian. he lets ed get away with a lot in what should be a leader/subordinate relationship. don't understand the obsession with underage stuff, either. someday, i am going to post a billion pictures of terada/rika everywhere when someone complains that ed is underage. dude, that is NOT an argument, not in anime. ed ending up totally fucked in the end? um, yeah, isn't that the point of being the loud, obnoxious uke? ;) seriously, this statement has no basis unless roy really is that horrible evilevil bastard she seems to think he is. want to know the truth, kiddies? i don't think roy/ed works, either, although it definitely amuses me. why don't i think it works? mostly because ed is too focused on his goals right now; he doesn't have time for girls, or guys, or anyone. he might as well be asexual. and roy never looks at him like that - he has his own goals, and i presume his datelife is almost as active as he claims. afterwards? well, i have no idea, which is why i usually refrain from writing beyond the series at all. and this is supposing that roy ever looks at the 15-years-younger (now the age gap, that might be an argument against it) ed in a remotely sexual manner. and ed is gay. >__> i mean, really ... look at all the hoops one must jump. *surveys wank* yep, i think that about does it. now i have to figure out how to say that in a non-snarky way so i can snap at this girl next time. [found a memory at 3:06 pm on 2/18/2004] Ahahaha, it's been quite a while ... Eh, well, actually, this is just me thinking briefly, and since it's just going to spark controversy, i'm going to post it here. i see the first hints of obsessively angry fans regarding Roy/Ed in the fullmetal alchemist fandom - you know, the people who just can't stand a pairing and feel the need to voice it whenever they see something relating to that subject. i won't name names, but about now is when i wish i could say to the world, please, please people, we all have our preferences. what squicks you may not squick me, and until it's a crime, please keep the hate to yourself. ... i knew it was bound to happen sooner or later, and over Roy/Ed if anything, but still. ^^; ah well, i've staked out my ground. If the fandom falls apart around me, then so be it. no reason to weep yet. [found a memory at 11:41 pm on 11/9/2003]
i had so much to say, but i was hoping to be able to say it to sa-chan, who never got online. ;__;x sa-chan, i've missed you ... i hope i see you tomorrow ... ah, well ... to sum it up briefly, this con was a bittersweet experience. it was definitely the worst con i've ever attended - i've been to five. but i still had a lot of fun, so hey. my friend and i are, i'm pretty sure officially, the very first tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE cosplay in America ... and possibly the entire world. how cool is that!? that's us in the above picture. i mean, check it out! i got to be syaoran-kun! woohooo! (yeah, i suck ... you can shush now ^^;; ) tomorrow i'll be more organized and get up an actual page. right now, i've got a tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE website to work on. ^^;; [found a memory at 11:01 pm on 10/23/2003] wow. loki from matantei loki ragnorok is just begging to be ficced. i mean, the anime doesn't deal with skadi, the goddess who sentenced loki to prison; it doesn't mention baldur (as far as i can see); it doesn't deal with loki's whole screwed up history with the other norse gods except on a peripheral level, either. by the way: the reason loki is so afraid of water is that he's the god of fire. i'd be afraid of water if it doused my main element, too. [found a memory at 1:52 pm on 10/12/2003] i now have the one piece doujin. and it is funny! i adore the artwork - as expected of a doujin, it's very beautiful; the style is generally straight-lined, with thick, heavy folds in the material of the clothes and spiky hair; you could say it is a very 'clean' style, i suppose. there are some stories that have a different artist, and those are good, too. hm. in general, the whole thing is good. heh heh. my (extremely) limited japanese is just enough for me to understand about half the jokes - it is a gag doujin, after all. in the first comic vivi seems distressed because the toilet paper comes on a roll instead of in seperate sheets. a later comic jokes that usopp's nose is actually only a prop, and his real nose is normal. in the next comic, luffy loses his hat and nami catches it. she looks inside and discovers that ... the mugiwara boshi is a gucchi designer hat. she refuses to give it back. next: they finally find the coveted one piece! and it is ... a one-piece dress! XD later, usopp draws vivi and vivi's duck; luffy steals the pictures and combines them, so that vivi's duck has vivi's legs. usopp shoots him. another comic has a feverish nami fantisizing about what chopper's fully human form looks like. there's a couple more gags that i don't quite understand again, but the next one i don't have to read to understand ... chopper comes up behind zoro, who's standing at the stern of the boat, and tries to get his attention ... only to discover the swordsman is sleeping standing up. and that's the last gag. did i mention that there's a really nice picture of sasuke and naruto in the back cover? and the front title page has a nice picture of luffy in a tux. mmm. xd still waiting on more tsubasa. sigh. after i clean up this room i'll work on the website. i'll be up until the middle of the night tonight, though, literally ... i'm hoping for something good to happen to me. *wink* [found a memory at 10:04 pm on 10/10/2003] the other day i reviewed The Path of a ninja, a fanficton by Silverwolfangel969. tis a really, really, terrible mary sue; every line was pure agony, but i persevered and read the fic all the way through and left a long, coherent review! it was rather snippy, but it wasn't really that mean. if the other members of the ppc knew the naruto fandom, i can just imagine what kind of reviews she would have gotten. anyway, this was her reply to my review(s): Ok. Look people. do I have to explain what Alternate universe means? It's another realm like thing which is similar to the original universe it came from. Of COURSE the characters will be acting out of character. This is MY point of veiw people. okay, dear, please tell me why you are writing this fanfiction, then? it's clearly not because you love the characters or anything, because you are warping them to your mind at will. this is one of those situations where the 'au' label is just an excuse to write whatever the hell you want. why don't you just make up your own characters with new names, since you've practically done that anyway - you're just borrowing names from the naruto world. these are definitely not the characters we know and love. As for Marlin's only fan, Im not angry at you. you pointed out something, so did I. Its over. feel free to point more things out in the third chapter. hey, wait a sec - i thought you were taking your fanfiction elsewhere! that's what you said in this reply. darn.As for you, Lord Elrond's Bailiff. yes? I relize my mistakes with the Shuriken and the Kunai. glad to hear it. now, do you recognize that she would have been dead, and unable to hold up the kunai in the first place? as for the paragraph thing, FanFiction.net doesnt like the way I write my paragraphs so they fuck them up. no excuse! what do you use, .txt? put in in .doc or .html format and that should clear up the problem. and it doesn't change the other formatting/grammar mistakes that make it unreadable - such as the lack of paragraph changes between speakers, or the lack of commas, or the lack of periods ... Now, I dont expect anybody else to give me any 'GOOD' reviews anymore, so Im taking my stories elsewhere. Silverwolfangel969 goodbye, and good riddance. thank you for your time! *bii-da* *proceeds to fall over laughing* that was very satisfying, actually ... [found a memory at 2:49 am on 10/10/2003] I ain't got nothing to say. Wow. I want. [found a memory at 8:47 pm on 10/7/2003] as usual, i'm obsessing over several things at once. more so than usual at the moment, actually, since i'm now stuck on one piece, shaman king, hunter x hunter, and tsubasa:rc all at once. at least it makes for an exciting life, heh heh ... found a most amusing shounen-ai manga today, entitled paradistar. basically it's about an innocent teenage boy (apparently a virgin) who, upon the dissolution of his family due to debt, ends up wrapped up with the 'mono no ke', creatures who feed upon the existence of living souls for energy. this poor kid is so incredibly sweet it almost hurts, but the sheer amount of not-even-attempting-to-be-hidden innuendo is almost hilarious. definitely worth a look-see, if you're fond of typical japanese yaoi. reluctant-uke syndrome abounds, despite the cover. on that note, may i remind the world that i am deeply in love with syaoran, and tsubasa has had me just ... just dissolving of late. i'm not sure if i'm happy-dissolving or ready-to-cry-dissolving. syaoran takes emotional blow after emotional blow, and sakura just doesn't clue in, not that anyone blames her. that poor kid - poor kids. man. i want to hug syaoran and never let go, or at least never let go until i can entrust him to sakura again. switching gears, though, syaoran also kicks serious ass! man, he may have been an archeologist all his life, but he isn't any slouch when it comes to martial arts. O__o *reminds self to write about that on her opinion page* ... and did anyone besides me notice that sakura is wearing syaoran's cloak when they prepare to travel to the next world? aww ... one piece, one piece ... sigh. there's so much i could say, but frankly, if you haven't seen it, you shouldn't be spoiled. if i ever have the time and feel like putting forth the effort, i'll construct a mini-luffy shrine, though. the main character of one piece doesn't get nearly enough attention for how incredibly cool he is! one piece as a whole is incredibly goofy, and luffy is the goofiest, but he's so awesome when he's serious and fighting and stuff. it's so funny how everyone just gets used to luffy ... he acts like a nutcase and at first everyone is like 'how can you be that way!' and then ... they just accept it. it becomes 'well, it's luffy'. heh heh ... on that note, i should add that i'm getting a one piece doujin! it's really cute art and supposedly all gags, so i can't wait to see. :) i don't have much to say about hunter x hunter, since frankly, i'm more addicted to one piece. xd but i do have to note that kirua(killua, kilua) is really, really, cool. a 12-year-old ex-assassin? who fights off the urge to kill? who laughs at gon's jokes? who actually acts like a 12-year-old kid most of the time and yet can pull off the whole 'i'm a scary assassin, fear me' routine? who analyzes situations like a pro? who has a scary abusive family that hates his guts and tortures him for practice?? what's not to like!? bleach is a fun series. my friend wants me to cosplay that with her sometime, which means that i'll be ... you guessed it! a guy character again. that's fine. she wants me to be ichigo, the main character, which means putting together a black kimono outfit so i can be shinigami!ichigo. and i'll have to chop off most of my hair again. ^^;; that's okay, too. mm ... i suppose i'll wander off and work on the tsubasa website again. ^^; [found a memory at 4:00 pm on 9/19/2003] while waiting for fateback to finally send me my new password, i decided to visit my usual amusements, not the least of which is megatokyo. as it turns out, megatokyo was mentioned in this article in the japan times, which is pretty cool -- but .... excerpt: While I found the North American edition of "Shonen Jump" quite attractive and accompanied by lively translations, the works themselves are of little interest to anyone without a Y chromosome or beyond the age of 12! as i am neither under the age of twelve, nor the possessor of a y chromosome, i would like to know how they explain me - someone who adores naruto, shaman king, one piece ... but even this is beside the point. shonen jump is pretty much the liscensed comics from the japanese publication 'shounen jump', which is, in fact, aimed towards the male japanese audience - mostly teenagers. this entirely neglects the entire line of 'shoujo manga' published almost exclusively by tokyopop - which includes the heavily shounen-ai titles 'Gravitation' and 'FAKE' (definitely NOT aimed towards little kids!), and other darker titles. one wonders which issue the author picked up; naruto deals with issues such as death, and in one piece a man is killed without regret in the very first chapter. it's articles like these that perpetuate the perception that japanese comics and comic books are only for geeks and little kids. ... argh ... so. very. irritated. i, for one, would not hand my 10-year-old kid a japanese manga with a death in the very first chapter. would you, miss ashby? [found a memory at 11:33 pm on 9/9/2003] .... i only have one thing to say: sa-chan, i'm sorry. tell your friends that vikki says they are all jerks who should get a life. .... i hope you feel better. [found a memory at 1:50 pm on 9/6/2003] and another lovely blog by sa-chan. thank you, sa-chan! *waves* and that extending line thingie is cool! Thanks! :) this bloggie layout is from the first pages of Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, the series that I currently can't get enough of. so beautiful. :) syaoran really goes through hell for sakura-chan, though ... aiya ... anyway, off to do some homework and then work on the contents of the most comprehensive tsubasa website ever. :) thanks for tuning in! mood: pink |
